Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts presents. . .
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast!
Based on the traditional French fairy tale, this Disney classic tells the story of Belle (Chloe Dobbs), an intelligent and beautiful
young woman who is ridiculed by her fellow villagers for her eccentric and bookwormish ways. Weary of fighting off the advances
of the arrogant Gaston (Ethan Blencowe), Belle dreams of adventure! And adventure is exactly what she gets! When her beloved
father, Maurice (Liam Cooper), is captured by a terrifying Beast (Jack Dawson), Belle goes to his rescue. . . A deal is struck, and her
father is set free. However, as payment for his release, Belle is forced to remain with the beast forever! Initially repulsed by his
hideous looks, in time, she finds much to appreciate in his hidden, tender nature... And so it begins: Belle's lesson in the true
meaning of beauty.
Peppered with a cast of lovable characters, including Cogsworth (Corey Pickett), Lumiere (Jack Baxter) and the unsinkable Mrs.
Potts (Lucy Heffernan); Beauty and the Beast is a timeless story for the young, and young at heart alike.
For the first time ever in the Illawarra, this spectacular production combines Disney’s time-loved music with more than one hundred
cast and crew and an orchestra of forty. . . With brilliantly coloured costumes, breath-taking scenery and an energy that has to be
seen to be believed, Beauty and the Beast is sure to delight and amaze!
Featuring such classic songs as ‘Home’, ‘Be Our Guest’, and the always memorable ‘Beauty and the Best’, this timeless production
will blow the roof of the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre from June, 5th!!
