The Merry Go Round is a new musical, soon to be produced in Perth.
For those of you who had previously seen the script - Please Note!! It's had a major overhaul and is a much more rounded story.
Alan is suffering from depression following a few ups & downs in his life. He meets a number of other people at a 'therapy group' and together, they chart a course through pain, death, life, love and healing.
Just so you know, the show is not 'Rent-y' - I wanted it to be positive and upbeat - It's more classic musical genre, boy gets girl, big show numbers, a duet with the devil, that kind of thing....!!
It's supposed to be a fun show - however considering the subject matter, there are by necessity a few dark moments.
Proceeds from the production will be channelled back into the mental health community, and the project has the support of both Stirling Theatre and the Rotary Club of Hillarys.
The musical is to be workshopped at Stirling Theatre on Saturday 24 October at 2:30pm, with a further workshop on Saturday 14 November, should it be required.
I would LOVE anyone who would like to be involved to come along.
Please let me know if you wish to attend, and I'll email you a copy of the script, and the music completed to date, so you will have opportunity prior to the workshop to familiarise yourself with the script etc.
The more the merrier, of course, and a magnificent opportunity to be part of something that is going to be so much bigger than just another play...!!

Oklahoma! is the one of the first of what were called the American ‘book’ musicals where the music and lyrics added to and expanded on the story and as a result includes such classics as “Oh what a beautiful morning”, “Surrey with a fringe on top” and the cheeky “I’m jest a girl who Caint say no”. Manly Musical society in association with Bizzie productions have taken this well-loved musical and breathed new life into it with an amazingly talented young cast. The result is a vibrant and energetic retelling of this much loved piece.
