Altar Boyz

B.Tudor | 24/04/2010 - 13:16

The longest running, critically acclaimed off Broadway musical in years Altar Boyz is abut to hit Perth, with a sensational all Australian cast.

Altar Boyz is a musical comedy parody about a fictitious Christian boy-band on the last night of their Australia wide “Raise the Praise” tour. The boys are five ultra-talented heart throbs; Matthew (the leader of the pack with the heart of a saint). Mark (a sensitive young man with deep faith in Cher), Luke (the wild one with a strong “interest” in communion wine), Juan (an orphan, searching for his parents, who also has an eye for all the .girls in the audience) and Abraham (a nice Jewish boy from the Temple down the street, who’s not quite sure how he ended up in the band anyway)

As they perform their signature hits, soul wrenching secrets come tumbling out with hilarious results. The Boyz begin to question their faith in each other and learn if fate is holding them together, or is it just their extra firm hair gel!

With their sweet harmonies and sinfully spectacular dancing Altar Boyz is 90 minutes of pure fun.

Mark - Evan Pugh

LEGentertainment (Australia) auditions for
By Jeeves!

Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber, and Alan Ayckbourn

Scott-Leonard Landers

By George! By Jove! By Jeeves!

From the classic P.G. Wodehouse stories of the amiably dense Bertie Wooster and his estimable manservant Jeeves,
two of the theater's most celebrated talents have fashioned a jolly chamber
musical chock full of hilarity and invention. Bertie is looking forward to
enlivening a charity benefit at a church hall when his beloved banjo
mysteriously goes missing. Assisted by the unflappable Jeeves, Bertie instead
entertains the audience with an improvised account of how he and two chums -
with, as one song puts it, "a collective I.Q. of around 42" - all got their
names and identities confused in the course of one riotously raucous weekend.
This tale of escalating chaos and labyrinthine high jinx unfolds to the
accompaniment of one of Andrew Lloyd-Webber's most vivacious and sprightly
scores. BY JEEVES cleverly intertwines the twin English passions for amateur
theatrics and bumbling silliness, taking us back to a time when flirty girls
pursued men, not careers, and where good breeding took precedence over
brainpower.
