Wow, isn't it nice to see people being so supportive of each other here?

Please leave snide asides for after you have seen the show. At least in the reviews forum you will have a pretext for your snippy comments.

Cabaret is not one of my favourite shows and i'm not sure if formidable is the right word to describe this particular creative team - but i will not comment further until i have actually seen the show.

Dictionary translation for Formidable:
1. Arousing fear, dread, or alarm
2. Inspiring awe, admiration, or wonder

Which of the above do we select?

Formidable creative team - agree with above comments - HOW, WHEN, WHAT, WHY????

1) What was the last great show that Paul directed???
2) What recogonition/awards has he acheived for directing?
3) Kristen Twynam-Perkins choreographer > (silence)

Judging by the facebook entry I would suggest that Bree & Tyler are it - they are cabaret.

Aside from that (based on photographic evidence) audience may get the impression that the local rhinoceros sanctuary have been released to graze in Kwinana. Mind you some people get off on that and steel chairs are very cold to sit on.

All the best for a wonderful show ............

Are Paul & Kristine Brother & sister or partners?
I thought they were related?
Are both Paul and Kris in the show as well?

Looking forward to seeing it - probably book with some other friends on the 18th July - can the tables sit more than four if needed. Will be a great night (love the songs) and nice to compare to last years production. Is Bree from Sydney?

Amy Loveless - I actually laughed into my coffee when I read your post. I have to say I did notice that in the photos as well.

And aside from that, the ticket prices are a bit rich.

I recognise almost everyone in the cast and know their backgrounds... I'm not expecting much from this show. But I will reserve my judgement for after the performance.

but goodluck to them. i guess they won't be doing too much dancing then

Sometime ago...about the time the ITA switched servers,I lost my mind, or was it just my password? Sad I was, but always trying to look on the positives, I thought to myself... at least now I won't have to suffer reading those bitchy scathing reviews of shows not seen. Alas, I have a new password, and I can surf the website with old abandon... judging from the comments posted here, the world remains still the same...all a bit sad really...community? Funny word.

Methinks someone with a flair for satire could write an amusing and witty little play around all of this petty bickering. What do you think Mr Grim?

We're all so defensive of our 'rights' - in this case to express our opinions - but we all seem to have forgotten that rights come with responsibilities too. Personal attack, character assassination - call it what you like - borders dangerously close to slander. Perhaps that's something to bear in mind while exercising 'rights' in a public forum.

Well put Johnny.... tactful words for a tactless group......Community? Ah well... perhaps there are contrary meanings for that word as well and we have been misled through time into believing that a "community" was a good thing....Supportive of ones peers, though I certainly would not have believed it from reading some of the tripe that has been posted over the years. Get over yourselves people.....

Criticism is all very well.... but please, let he who is without sin cast the first tomato!!!

What has Paul done? What has he been awarded for? What awards has Kristen won?......Fair enough... Let's turn it around....

What have YOU done?? (other than bleat)

What have you been awarded? (other than nasty adjectives that I shan't post here.)

What have you Choreographed ? (other than trying to learn to walk without your knuckles dragging on the ground.)

I can not believe the things I am reading on here. Sure criticize a show if you have seen it but personal attacks on individuals is not the right thing to do here or anywhere.

Being dressed in next to nothing is difficult for anyone but especially larger girls. Did anyone think that maybe these girls are already having a hard time wearing the costumes they have no doubt been given without having petty people on here criticizing their figures?

And since when can you tell how good a dancer is from a photograph?

I happen to know one of the girls who is playing a Kit Kat and she is a well trained dancer and last time I saw her she was still a healthy size 10. If she's a rhinoceros then what hope do the rest of us have?

I am disgusted that people would use this forum to attack people they don't know. Yes it may be your opinion and I get the whole you're entitled to it 'thing' but some things should not be voiced here. If you don't have the guts to say to these girls faces that they are fat then don't post it here.

I am absolutely ashamed by the level this website has fallen to. Someone needs to do something about this and fast before the whole thing goes down the toilet and we lose what used to be a great resource for amateur theatre.

This has become a bitch session for people who have nothing better to do than slander random people they've seen on Facebook.

You are perpetuating the stereotype that community theatre is unprofessional, petty and consumed with its own self worth.

Get a life.

As for hype, this would be promotions, it’s what we (collectively in theatre) need to do to survive. Its a well known fact that the more well known you become the more susceptible you are to judgement, mudslinging and all that jazz by people eager to criticise. It takes a brave person to take the spotlight, congratulations all! break a leg xox

I am amazed at the amount of negative comments that have been posted about you, and from people that haven't even seen your performance yet! Take something positive from it all... People are talking about you, you've raised interest!

I am looking forward to seeing the show on the 12th! Ignore the nasty comments and give it your all!

Looking forward to the entertainment and supporting community theatre.

(Before I get to the crux of what I want to say ‘Walter Plingearee’ – my use of this quote was meant for those who have not even SEEN the show, and are looking to knock it down, without foundation for their criticism. I did not intend it to be taken that every criticism that is made, is made by those incapable! We are critical creatures by nature.)

I apologize for having perhaps made a rushed generalization about Yellowglass – granted, I’m not altogether familiar with their previous work, outside of those productions listed. I did, in fact, hear the original WA premier of RENT was fantastic – I, perchance, worded my previous post too hastily in an attempt to defend Playlover’s {all of whose productions I have enjoyed thus far} and point out that Yellowglass is not without fault in the handling of well-loved musicals, as ‘barefan’ seemed to suggest.

‘Outofthewoods’, you are right in saying it was unnecessary of me to take down YG in my haste to defend Playlovers (Cabaret wasn’t a part of that – that was in protest to ‘barefan’ knocking the idea of Playlovers taking on Bare) I did not know they were in affiliation with Eventainment, and that they have consequently split from them – excuse my ignorance? I had not written them off anyhow, quite the opposite. I truly regret having missed ‘Into the Woods’, being a fan of the musical. I wasn’t implying that in my head they had no chance for redemption just that they, like any theatre company, are not without flaws – I worded it too strongly.

And hey, I was never intending that to be a ‘Yay Playlovers/Kwinana – boo Yellowglass!’ comment, sorry it sounded that way. I was merely pissed off at those defaming two productions – one which hasn’t even gone into rehearsal (!) – without real knowledge of them.

I can admit when I’m in the wrong and again, apologies for Yellowglass affiliates/enthusiasts, I take it back, in that way Smiling

Wow! I actually do wonder if this thread will ever actually be about the show cabaret. Which by the way I saw and was magnificent! Good job guys!

And now I will digress into the pathetic muck or negativity which is the exact opposite of what Amateur Theater and I would like to at least imagine all of Theater is about.

...I think Maja Hanna's original comment was fair enough if looked at in the context of a response to barefan's post. barefan is clearly an idiot (with good taste in atleast one musical though),and im sure Maja's post was a swipe at him/her and not the company of yellow glass which im glad she clarified as it not being. I can understand however the need that might be felt to defend yellow glass as it is a good theater company that has done many wonderful shows (the most recent I saw was ITW and it was a delight)...

Anyway I know I just contradicted myself by not talking about Cabaret. So Cabaret, Cabaret, Cabaret!! Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!!!

Dear Anonymous person...

RE Piano players.
As you are no doubt aware KTW has a VERY small stage, and we had to minimise as much space as possible for the band
Ideally we would have like to have BOTH keyboards facing the stage, but unfortunately we could only really fit them in facing each other.
It was a hard choice, but in the end we felt that it was more important for the MD to see the stage (and the other band members)
A little bit more room to move and I assure you we would have had both of them facing the stage.

Thank you for you constructive criticism...
And I hope you enjoyed the rest of the show
