A sleeping Princess, a spellbound Prince and more Fairies than you can shake a wand at are all part of this quirky adaptation of the popular tale. An evil fairy, the Trollarina, exacts her revenge on the royal family by sending the beautiful Princess Melisande into an everlasting sleep, but little does she realise more than one spell is about to be broken by the kiss of an enchanted Faun who turns out to be more than what he seems...
Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (MPAC) will be auditioning for their annual Pantomime on Sunday the 21st September to be performed in January 2009. The upcoming Pantomime is The Sleeping Beauty. Here is the info:
What: Auditions for The Sleeping Beauty
When: Sunday 21st September 2009, 9am - 5pm
Where: Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, Ormsby Terrace, Mandurah, WA.

Musical Director: Luke Savage
Choreographer: Andrew Thompson
Auditionees will need to prepare the song "Close to You". Audition scenes are available via the MPAC box office, or you may email me (dbilston@rockingham.wa.gov.au) and I can send out the audition scenes for the particular character(s) that you may be interested in.
Principal Roles:
The Blue Faun: Male, Can appear to be 18+, Good singer and dancer, ballet and mime experience a plus.
Phoebe - Lead good Fairy: Female, Can appear to be 18+, Good singer and dancer, Ballet experience a plus.
Sybil - good Fairy: Female, Can appear to be 18+, Good singer and dancer, Ballet experience a plus, A bit giddy/ditzy.
Minerva - good Fairy: Female, Can appear to be 18+, Good singer and dancer, Ballet experience a plus, Comedy experience a plus.
The Royal Herald: Male, Can appear to be 25+, Good singer with commanding speakign voice.
The King: Male, Leading man, Cna appear to be 30+, Good singer, Regal character.
The Queen: Female, Can appear to be 30+, Good singer and dancer.
Trollarina - the bad Fairy: Male or Female, Can appear to be 18+, Good singer and dancer. Comedy experience a plus, Will be flown so must not be afraid of heights.
There will also be a childrens chorus for young people aged 6 - 17. In particular, we are looking for girls aged 12 - 18 with strong pointe skills.
In addition an adult chorus will form the majority of the royal court.
