Check 1, 2 - Steps Youth Dance Company with Kompany Kido
The Curtin Theatre
John Curtin College of the Arts
Friday August 19th, 2005
Choreographed by Robert Griffin, Sete Tele, Richard Seidel & Sam Fox
Well the first word that comes to my mind is WOW! What an amazing, high energy and exciting performance from these talented, fit young men. As entertaining and classy as anything I've seen on stage anywhere.
The choreography was dynamite, the simple costuming and props worked beautifully and the lighting, by Mike Nanning, was fabulous too. I thought that all of the music pieces, arranged by Sete Tele, were stunning (if anyone involved in the performance reads this I would really appreciate it if you could please email me a list of all the tracks used).
All of the young dancers were really great but the stand out performer for me was the handsome, dark haired young man who played one of the "two lads, friends since childhood" in black (i.e. he didn't have a yellow or red patch initially). He has an amazing career ahead of him.
There is a public performance of "Check 1, 2" at the Boardwalk Theatre in Mandurah on August 24th at 7.30pm. If you love dance, or just want a great night out, don't miss it!
Thank you to all involved for a joyous performance.
