Australian Community Theatre (ACT Inc for short) was established in May 2003 as an Incorporated Association under Victorian Government legislation.

Australian Community Theatre exists to create opportunities to involve people in the 55+ age group, (professional performers, amateurs and the wider community) in the preparation and mounting of performing arts events, especially via the staging of music theatre productions.

While aiming for and achieving the highest possible artistic standards, the organization aims to build an environment in which all age groups can interact, be stimulated by and learn from each other, increasing knowledge, social skills and self-esteem in the process, and providing opportunities for intergenerational mentoring.
