Company information
The Performing Arts Centre Society (PACS), a not for profit incorporated association, is a vibrant and dynamic membership based organisation.
The Society's core activity is The Blue Room Program. Initiated in 1995 in order to nurture and support the development of innovative new works, exciting new artists and brilliant new ideas, Blue Room Presentations are generated and produced by the artists who create them. Productions selected for inclusion in the Program are given a two week season at the venue, a small production subsidy and 90% of the door takings.
Twenty new productions are selected each year and while the selection process is competitive, anyone with a good idea and the ability to produce an excellent work of theatre of a professional standard is invited to apply.
Presenting more than twenty productions a year, The Blue Room offers Perth audiences a continuous and diverse program of contemporary performance at an affordable price.
In addition to presenting The Blue Room Theatre Program, PACS also provides Performing Arts practitioners with access to affordable administrative and production resources; and workshop and rehearsal rooms, presents free play readings throughout the year and runs two terrific bars.
Our Membership includes over 100 performing arts practitioners including writers, actors, directors, choreographers, musicians, designers, digital artists, comedians and others whose art form defies such neat boundaries of classification.
In addition, the Society is supported by a growing number of Associate Members who, while not performing arts practitioners themselves, support the vision and ideals of the organisation and in return for their support receive regular information about Performing Arts Centre Society activities, discounts to shows and invitations to social events.
Through the passion, energy and commitment of the artists, supporters and management, the Society has grown into a unique organisation respected locally and nationally for our innovative approach to program and service delivery.
In addition to the fantastic support we receive from our members and associate members The Society is supported on a triennial basis by the Australia Council for the Arts and ArtsWA and receives sponsorship from Healthway and the Family Planning Association of WA to promote the Play it Safe Message.
