After 10 years in Texas, USA, where Jeremy and Jewell Johnson established the company to produce fringe theatre and their own work, Songe Arts returned to Australia nearly 5 years ago to continue the project here in Sydney. Since then they have mounted several productions per year, including Johnson's "Direct from Broadway, Winner of Seven Tony's," and Sydney's original festival of ten minute plays, 10x10, three years running. Right now they are involved in a production of "Creditors" by August Strindberg.

Songe Arts are currently performing out of the Newtown Scool of the Arts. This is an old building on Eliza St in Newtown, down the road from the popular Zanzibar Hotel.

This is not to be confused with the Newtown High School of Performing Arts, whuch geographically nearby, but not affiliated with Songe in any other way.
