Company information
A brand new production of the quintessential Broadway musical comedy, Guys & Dolls, will open at the Princess Theatre on Tuesday, 18 October, 2005 for six toe-tappin, finger snappin performances. It will feature a professional orchestra and a talented cast of over 60 performers.
Of the show, Gibson says, all the hot gamblers are in town and they are all depending on Nathan Detroit to set up an incarnation of "The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York"; the only problem is, he needs $1000 to get the place. Throw in Sarah Brown, who is short on sinners at the mission she runs; Sky Masterson, who accepts Nathan's $1000 bet that he can not get Sarah Brown to go with him to Havana; Miss Adelaide, who wants Nathan to marry her; Police Lieutenant Brannigan, who always seems to appear at the wrong time and the music/lyrics of Frank Loesser and you have got quite a musical.
Including the songs: "Luck Be a Lady", "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat" and Guys and Dolls, Guys & Dolls opened at the 46th Street Theatre in November 1950 and enjoyed a run of 1 200 performances. The 1955 film version featured Marlon Brando, Vivian Blaine, Frank Sinatra and Jean Simmons.
The cast features John de Jong, Jeffrey Clarke, Jeff Hayes, Carol Devereaux and Heidi Cooper.
Well-known local identity, Danny Gibson, heads this years production team as Director, with Christine Clarke as Musical Director, Matthew Dudfield as Conductor and Diane Summers as Choreographer.
