Urban Dance Centre Opens its Doors

The long awaited opening of Sydney’s first all-urban based dance school has finally arrived. Urban Dance Centre welcomed its first enrolments on Sunday 8th January with a successful Open Day celebration, ushering in the New Year with the announcement that its classes will officially start on Monday 30th January 2006.

UDC is the heart of Australian Hip Hop, pumping life into the urban dance community. The first dance school of its kind in Australia, UDC brings together Sydney’s most sought after dancers, teachers and choreographers who have collectively choreographed and worked with urban artists such as Guy Sebastian, Shakaya, Jade MacRae, Selwyn, Kyle, Chingy and Deni Hines.

UDC offers a variety of services including: youth program (8-16 years), casual classes (all ages), international and intensive workshops, short courses, mumma & bubba classes, student scholarships, school programs and studio hire. Urban Dance Centre embraces all styles of urban dance, with classes catering to people of all levels and ages.

The venue boasts two large fully equipped studios with timber floors, change rooms and toilet facilities. Set in the heart of Chippendale, UDC is central to Sydney’s universities, Broadway Shopping Centre and popular cafes.

J-Foxx Entertainment Pty Ltd is Urban Dance Centre’s parent company and gives UDC students the rare opportunity to be scouted for professional dance work with Australia’s finest talent.
Director of Urban Dance Centre Juliette Verne is excited about her new venture, “after spending the last 20 years of my life training and working as a dancer on numerous projects both in Australia and overseas, I thought it was time to open my own studio and pass on my experiences and knowledge to encourage the development of other aspiring dancers. I have gathered Sydney’s most respected teachers and choreographers to form a dynamic faculty that will lead this generation into a new era in dance. Most importantly, I feel UDC will provide kids with a safe platform to express their individualism in positive environment. All UDC classes are fun and motivational, encouraging self-confidence and promoting children’s fitness”.
