Performance - Saturday 11 March at 8.00pm
Belyssa - Belly Dance expert, teacher and Middle East cultural researcher presents two fascinating evenings. A lecture entitled Bedouins, Belly Dance & Desert Dreams: In Search of the Dance of the Desert Nomads and a performance entitled Bedouins, Belly Dance & Desert Dreams: Gypsy Caravans & Nile Spices.
Belyssas extensive knowledge and vast collection of video footage and photographs have been gathered on regular annual visits of up to six months to countries such as Syria, Jordan, Oman, Turkey, Morocco and her beloved Egypt. Much of that time has been spent with Bedouins in remote desert communities.
Whet your appetite for the Saturday night dance performance with a behind-the-scenes free lecture and audio-visual presentation focussed on her culturally rich and quite amazing travels.
Belyssa performs with dance troupes Desert Fire and The Flames of Araby.
