Willy Russell

Warrick Bailey

Warrick Bailey's production of Willy Russell's hilarious adult comedy is a Russell rewrite of the original script and differs in many ways from a recent Perth production of the same play. This wickedly observant play by the author of "Educating Rita", produced last year at Garrick, finds Dennis on the eve of his fortieth birthday making a last ditch attempt to break away from his new middle class life, the tupperware parties, wife swapping and restraints of his housing estate existence. At breaking point during his birthday party he attempts to pack his rucksack and make his escape but his wife and friends all want to go with him...

You will love the earthy humour of this play and can't be offended by its use of the vernacular as it is a very, very funny play. Bring your tissues too!!
