Set in 1982 on Manhattans Upper West Side, the play traces with humour and affection, a pivotal 48 hours in the lives of three hard living teenagers: Warren (Tim Wright, Two Hands), Dennis (Ditch Davey, Blue Heelers) and Jessica (Amanda Levy, The Shrinking Ledge).
The critically acclaimed writer/director Kenneth Lonergan is best known for his understated, realist hit You Can Count On Me, a feature that demonstrated the versatility and modesty of Lonergans writing. This work earned him two Oscar nominations, and consolidated his reputation as a considered, astute writer of human emotions and estimations.
Winning a Drama Desk Award for Best Play, in This is Our Youth Lonergan captures an aspect of the modern western life cycle, between adolescence and adulthood, where many young people venture out into the world armed only with the ideas, techniques and bravado they developed as teenagers.
