Old Mill Theatre presents

Taking Sides by Ronald Harwood (who also wrote The Dresser)

Directed by Lindsay Sedgwick.

This marvellously dramatic and moving play about the clash between power and culture will be staged for the first time in WA.

Wilhelm Furtwangler was one of the greatest orchestral conductors of the century. When the Nazis came to power in the 1930's he elected to stay in Germany when many of his fellow artists left in ptotest, believing that art and politics had nothing to do with each other and that he could pursue his career in peace. As a result he was accused, and cleared of being a Nazi. However the Americans continued to pursue him, and this powerful play is an account of that investigation.

Garry Lawrence stars as Major Arnold the American investigator, with Tom Rees as Furtwangler.

They are joined by Rebecca Bauert, Sarah Richards, Phil Barnett & Justin Barrett in this not to be missed production.
