Perth Theatre Company, in association with Ensemble Theatre presents:
Stories From Suburban Road
Starring: Michelle Doake, Kim de Lury, Kate Mulvany, Rohan Nichol, Toni Pearen, and Craig Williams.
Based on Tom Hungerford's autobiography, Stories From Suburban Road vividly portrays the pleasure and pain of growing up in South Perth between the two world wars. Each cast member tells an animated tale of Tom's experiences over seven stories, which charmingly evokes a shared knowledge and memory of a golden age gone by. This beautifully realised and highly energetic production includes songs, music (courtesy of didgeridoo, ukulele and spoons) and mime and will warm your heart whilst tickling your funny bone.
First produced for the 1991 Festival of Perth, Stories received critical acclaim and achieved capacity audiences. This latest production was the hit of the Ensemble Theatre's Australian drama season staged during the Olympics and charmed audiences and critics alike.
Stories From Suburban Road is a distinctly Australian production and comes at a time when Australian stories have captured our hearts. It personifies what growing up in Australia and Australians, are all about.

After getting a divorce from C.K. Dexter Haven, Tracy Lord prepares to marry again… however, in the days before her wedding, Haven and a reporter, posing as her brother’s friend, show up at her doorstep. From there, Tracy is forced to choose among her past love, her present love and her new love. Amidst the situation comedy, and fast-paced dialogue, Barry explores several contemporary social issues, such as society’s perception of class differences in America and attitudes towards adultery and divorce in the 1930’s.
