Following on the heels of its critically acclaimed Bondi Spirit season, Sydney's hottest new dance company Bondi Ballet has announced plans for its most ambitious program yet for 2004.

The company will present two seasons: Classic Bondi over June/July and PSYCHE in its annual Spring season over October/November, enlarging both its Sydney performances and touring to NSW regional centres.

The pioneering and innovative company, which in its two short years of existence has notched up the impressive achievement of creating 16 new works by seven different choreographers, whilst enticing some of the most gifted dancers to perform, is striking a chord with audiences.

"I was so thrilled in the last season to have a company which covered three generations of wonderful dancers, ranging from the legendary Patrick Harding-Irmer and his wife Anca Frankenhaeuser, the likes of Jan Pinkerton through to emerging artists such as the young Emee Dillon, it gave a depth of experience and talent I was very proud of," said founder and Artistic Director Michael Montgomery.

Audiences and critics would seem to have agreed. Montgomery is optimistic and looking forward to the challenges of this year, pioneering a new dance company and presenting a swathe of new creations as well as remounting a couple of favourites.

The company will perform at the EVAN Theatre, Penrith, make their debut season at the Glen Street Theatre in Belrose, as well as Bondi Beach in Sydney. The company will then take to the road performing their unique brand of dance as far as Taree, Gosford and Dubbo.

The winner of The Bondi Ballet Choreographic Competition will have their work produced alongside that of the resident choreographers James Taylor and Montgomery as part of the Spring season. "I can't wait," said Montgomery. "There are so many talented dancers out there and so few jobs, I'm so glad I can provide stages for them to perform."
