DramaFest is over for another year and a jolly good time was had by all. Dr Geoff Gibbs, recent head of the WA Academy of Performing Arts, entertained participants and audiences alike with anecdotes, reminiscences, feedback, encouragement and constructive criticism.
Now that the Awards have been presented, it's time for an Encore Presentation of the winning plays, as chosen by our Adjudicator(s).
The ITA is proud to re-present:
"Albert" from Goldfields Repertory - winner of Best Production and Best Supporting Actor (Stuart Fleming).
"Educating Rita (Act 1)" from Kalamunda Dramatic Society - winner of Best Director (Ingrid Klaasenholm), Best Actress (Sylvia Karamaker) and Best Costumes.
"The Potato Eaters" from The Studio - winner of the Peter Kemeny Encouragement Award for writer/director/actor Noel O'Neill, and the Jenny McNae Adjudicator's Award for actress Catherine McStravick.
As always, we attempt to showcase the winners of both the Adult Festival and the Youth Festival. Winners from YouthFest were decided two weeks ago by Adjudicator Kerri Hilton. Although the recipients of the Best Production award are unavailable, the Festival Encore Night will present:
"Fossils" from the Old Mill Theatre - winner of the Melville Theatre Encouragement Award for director Chris Rouse, and an Adjudicator's Certificate for "Script Interpretation".
Four Award-Winning comedies for $12! This Sunday, October 7th, commencing at the earlier time of 6.00 PM, at the Harbour Theatre in the Fremantle Education Centre (Cantonment St, Fremantle). Hope to see you there.
