Hi there,
My name is Alison Albeck and I am the producing director of Studio 42, a New York based non-profit theater company dedicated to producing new work and supporting emerging artists (check us out at www.studio-42.org). I will be in Sydney and Melbourne this December and I would love to meet with other producers to talk about the emerging theater scene there and explore the possibility of touring Australian shows to New York or vice versa.
Our style of work runs the gamut from experimental (in the vein of Charles Ludlam) to more traditional (we work a lot with a young Pinter-esque playwright). This season we are doing a play that comes from the Matthew Bourne school of thought. It combines movement, music and acting to tell a linear story in a very poetic way.
If anyone works with or can recommend theater companies that focus on emerging artists and new works I would much appreciate it. I am also interested in going to see some new works - off the beaten track. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. I would also be interested in meeting with any Australian producers coming to New York in the coming months.
Many thanks,
Alison Albeck
