Monstrous Regiment

ARENA Arts & Entertainment Inc. has just negotiated the rights to stage Terry Pratchett's MONSTROUS REGIMENT in July of this year (to be performed at the Sun Room in Maylands). Even though the stage adaptation by Stephen Briggs is yet to be published (and won't be until later in the year), we have secured permission from the publishers to go ahead with our production of it.

MONSTROUS REGIMENT is Pratchett's latest Discworld novel, and tells the story of Polly - who makes herself up to look like a man so that she can join the army in an attempt to find her brother who has been sent to the front lines. Of course, there are plenty of other intrigues and the usual assortment of interesting characters, including a vampire and a troll. This production is particularly appealing to ARENA as it has a lot of female roles in it. Perhaps more humorous than his last few novels, MONSTROUS REGIMENT also has some very timely comments on war and international conflict.

So, Pratchett fans, this message is to put you on standby . . clear the decks for a July performances season. We are particularly looking for females that can make themselves look like males . . (and we're not saying any more than that at this stage).

Auditions will be held in April once our production of TEMPORO is up and running.
