Music Theatre - Certificate IV
Auditioning now. Starts March 2006
ACTT, Australia's largest independent college for the performing arts, is accepting final applications for its Certificate IV in Music Theatre.
This fully accredited 1-year program is ideal for talented singers and dancers who want to develop a strong acting technique.
The aim of the course is to prepare people for leading roles in professional and amateur music theatre productions, or successfully audition for further training.
This course runs over nine months full-time, with 750 hours of tuition. The tutors are industry leaders in their field, and graduates benefit from gaining their qualification from a specialised actor training school.
ACTTs prime strength in this regard means that singers and dancers who finish this music theatre course will have gained a performance edge that will move them out of the chorus and into a leading role.
According to Lesley Watson, ACTTs Director, acting has been the weak link for many performers who are skilled in dance or singing. ACTTs course aims to give its music theatre students a comprehensive advantage because of the structure and quality of the actor training they will receive.
Performers who are highly skilled in acting, singing and dance, are much more employable because of their ability to take on roles in each of these areas. This has been long acknowledged by the industry that has called such artists triple threat performers because of their wide-ranging skills.
The Actors College of Theatre & Television (ACTT) is internationally recognised as a leading actor training college. Based in Sydney, people travel from all around the world to take advantage of the College's unique training methods and courses in acting, music theatre, and technical production.

The Western Australian Youth Theatre company holds regular Sunday afternoon courses in ensemble theatre for young people between 12 and 19 years old. We recommend that participants be of High School age or above, and discourage primary school students from enrolling until they’ve made the move to High School.
