Note: Character descriptions are my own, and are guides only, they may change during the course of auditions.
Descriptions in capitals are NOT NEGOTIABLE!
The Athenians:
Demetrius (M), a young Athenian (early 20s), slightly weasely
Lysander (M), a young Athenian (early 20s), attractive but a bit thick
Theseus (M), The Duke of Athens, virile, stately any age
Egeus (M), The father of Hermia, old enough to be the father of Hermia
Philostrate (M), Master of Revels to Theseus, any age
Hermia (F), a young athenian maid, SHORT AND DARK!
Helena (F), a young Athenian maid, TALL AND FAIR!
Hippolyta (F), Queen of the Amazons, Athletic, well-endowed.
The Fairies:
Oberon (M), King of the Fairies, Sexy, Dangerous.
Puck (M), Henchman to Oberon, very, very mischievous
Titania (F), Queen of the Fairies, beautiful, impeccable timing and no dignity!
Seven other fairies (F), five of whom will have lines, two of whom will have to sing, poise and elegance will be a highly considered ability
The Mechanicals:
Bottom (M), a weaver, impeccable timing, no dignity, an ability to HAM
Quince, Snug, Snout & Starveling (M), the other mechanicals, must be able to HAM
Notes: Ability to think and perform well as a team will be considered more highly than individual talent in choosing the mechanicals.
The part of Flute has already been cast.
