Missing the off-field melodrama of footy season already?

Revisit the intrigues when Gold Logie Award winner John Wood takes to the stage at Don Russell Performing
Arts Centre on Wednesday 28 November in David Williamson’s timeless satirical play The Club.

The Club is a story of egotism, commitment, power, jealousy and greed in the sporting world. In particular, its story
covers the transition of Australian amateur sport into Australian business.

The culture and rituals of an old football club are torn to shreds as the mighty dollar takes over. As one player remarks: “All we got for joining was a guernsey and a pat on the back. I’ve given the club 10 years of my life and all I’ve got in the bank is $80.”

The Club is a multi-award-winning play receiving such accolades as the National Professional Theatre Award (1977) and Australian Writers’ Guild AWGIEs for Best Australian Stage Play and Best Script in any Medium (1978).

Joining Wood on stage is an exceptional cast including Christopher Connelly, Guy Kable, Denis Moore, Christopher Parker and Simon Wilton.

It also boasts the accomplished talents of director Bruce Myles, designer Anna Borghesi and lighting designer Glenn Hughes.
On the WA leg of the show’s monumental 32-week national tour, it will also travel to Kwinana and five regional centres.

Admission is $33.50, $30.40 concession, $27.30 for groups of 10 or more or $24.70 for high school students.

For bookings and information call The Don T: 9493 4577.
