Scapegoat for the 2008 Adelaide Festival Fringe

Tony Moore

"He who is prepared to give up basic liberties to achieve a little safety deserves neither liberty nor safety"  Benjamin Franklin

Our basic freedom of speech is being eroded daily by the Government and the Courts and along with it go many other freedoms. How soon will it be before we can be arrested and detained indefinitely simply upon a suspicion that we may be a criminal? And how long after that will it be before we can be arrested and held simply because the Government needs a SCAPEGOAT?

A young man has been arrested and imprisioned. Why? Is it because of his religion? Is it because of his race? Is it simply because he was available.

His interrogator needs to get him to admit to a crime and be convicted.

She needs a SCAPEGOAT.

Tony Moore's new play examines what could happen to you soon if we do not actively oppose the continuing introduction of laws that erode our rights and civil liberties. It is a powerful play full of anguish and anger.

The World Premiere Production of this play will be held during the Adelaide Festival Fringe 2008.

Come and see your future.

Featuring Joanna Webb (Rick for Spotlight Theatre. Steaming for Matt Byrne Media)
and Sahil Choujar.

As well as the evening performances there are two daytime shows on Tuesday 26th Feb at 2.30pm and Tuesday 4th March at 2.30pm.

The reviews for this show are pretty much all out there.

The Advertiser

"...reminiscent of Orwell's 1984 and Kafka's The Trial ..."

3 Stars

Russell Emerson

Adelaide Theatre Guide

"The production is thought provoking and well put together ... well worth a visit."

3.5 Stars

Fran Edwards

Adelaide Independant (Indaily bulletin)

" ...chillingly observes the reality of being detained and subjected to torture for an unspecified crime ..."

"It is an alarming slice of life."

David Jobling

ff. moobaa.com

"Performances are fine ... Sahil Choujar is convincingly defiant and confused as The Man, while Joanna Webb exudes the required frost."

Peter Muller

The complete reviews are available on my website on

We are doing very well audience wise and apart from last night 26/2/08 which we cancelled are averaging 20 per show ina theatre that seats 40. That's not bad for a local show in the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

On www.talkfringe.com a local site set up so that theatre goers can write their own reviews we have managed 5 reveiws all 5 star.

We are very pleased.

Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing.
