A LOT CAN HAPPEN IN t-40 MINUTES...
And its happening now, Perth - Weeping Spoon Productions' World Premiere season of SPECKS IN THE BLACK in the Blue Room Studio, 6:30pm Tuesday-Saturday only until May 5.
...I don't have time to waste playing 'let's find the problem'.
If you only have time for innovative, daring, critically acclaimed theatrical experiences, then this local and absurdly comic production is for you.
Written and directed by founding 'Spoon' Nathan Tetlaw, SPECKS IN THE BLACK lets us in on the countdown to lift-off with Commander Striker and his 2IC Captain Honeybun (fellow spooners Wyatt Nixon-Lloyd and Tim Watts).
Among the many potential obstacles these two space race heroes must overcome are an arm-wrestling match (or six), one dog, an abandoned marriage, one sexy nurse, a lycra-clad sibling, and their own grave fears of failure - and success!
Frank, I am about to launch into space, I have heaps of things to do.
Likened to the sci-fi spoof genre and Blackadder, SPECKS IN THE BLACK presents absurdist, extistential, self referential dialogue and plot with the energy and dynamism you would expect from Weeping Spoon Productions.
The ensemble cast, including Arielle Gray (The Laramie Project), Kingsley Judd (Discharge) and Oda Aunan ( City Of CaKe), help transform the Blue Room Studio from performance space to space module using over 30 live TVs! This mission must conclude May 5. Don't let it blast off without you!

Cider Mill Inn is an old, rustic country inn owned by an endearing elderly couple, Michael and Susan Edwards. At first they appear to be bordering on senility. We quickly learn however that they are very clever con artists, preying on their unsuspecting guests. Using an elaborate check-in form, guests are, in fact, signing a work contract, requiring them to perform various improvements at the inn. Plumbers, tile layers, carpenters and electricians are recruited to do work they never expected. But what is Susan's secret?
