The Vagina Monologues

Eve Ensler

Sue Hayward

THREE NEW SHOWS ANNOUNCED - See below

Playlovers are proud to present The Vagina Monologues, an hilariously witty and moving production based on award-winning author Eve Ensler’s ‘Vagina Interviews’ will be directed by Sue Hayward.  The show is strictly for adults only and contains extreme language, and opens to audiences August 17 and continues till September 1 at the home of Playlovers in Floreat.

Witty and irreverent, compassionate and wise, Eve Ensler's Obie Award-winning masterpiece gives voice to women's deepest fantasies and fears. The moving collection of tales give voice to a chorus of lusty, outrageous, poignant, brave and thoroughly human stories, guaranteeing that no one who sees it will ever look at a woman's body, or think of sex, in quite the same way again.

Director Sue Hayward, known for a vast repertoire of productions produced at various Perth theatres looks forward to presenting this outstanding show at one of Perth’s leading community theatres being Playlovers. Hayward says “when I saw it in a second hand bookshop, I thought no not for me. However I found myself picking it up and placing it back several times and thought, I may as well have a look at it. By the end of the first chapter, there was no question I had to do it. So really the show chose me.”

The Vagina Monologues
stars Megan Burley, Elizabeth Jansen, Gail Vandenbok and Analisa Bell. Hayward goes on to say, “I couldn’t be more pleased with the cast I have selected, a very diverse range of women, totally dedicated and thoroughly passionate performers.”

The Vagina Monologues has been translated into over 45 languages and has been performed in theatres all over the world, including sold-out runs off Broadway and in London's West End (2002 Olivier Award nomination, Best Entertainment.)

Philip Barry

Joy Sweeney

After getting a divorce from C.K. Dexter Haven, Tracy Lord prepares to marry again… however, in the days before her wedding, Haven and a reporter, posing as her brother’s friend, show up at her doorstep. From there, Tracy is forced to choose among her past love, her present love and her new love. Amidst the situation comedy, and fast-paced dialogue, Barry explores several contemporary social issues, such as society’s perception of class differences in America and attitudes towards adultery and divorce in the 1930’s.
