Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
By Tom Stoppard
Performed at Chapel Off Chapel
Two men on a roadside are invited to take part in an impromptu performance by a band of traveling players. What follows throws them headlong into the world of Shakespeare's Hamlet, charged with the simple instruction to 'glean what afflicts him', all the while desperately trying to keep up and read which way the wind is blowing. As Hamlet moves inexorably toward its well known conclusion, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern discover that theirs, too, is inevitable.
Tom Stoppard's absurdist work of genius combines comedy with astonishing wordplay and wit on a journey through Shakespeare's most famous play that's not to be missed.
