Book and Lyrics by Eric Idle, Music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle

Kimberley Shaw

Lovingly ripped off from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this smash hit Broadway and West End musical is a highly irreverent parody of the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and their quest for the Holy Grail.

It features a chorus line of dancing divas, serfs, cows, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and a legless knight.

The original 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

November 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 2010
All shows at 8pm, except Sundays, November 14, 21 at 7pm

...theres non-singing roles in this....or at least roles for those who have voices akin to (quoting Billy Connolly) "a goose farting in the fog".

And for anyone interested in non singing roles that come up in musicals, Darlington are doing My Fair Lady, Professor Higgins does not actually sing his songs, he talks them, so theres another opportunity for those who have the abovementioned singing voice.

To be honest, I have never felt confident enough to audition for any Playlovers musical production, as I think their standards are set just too high for the average singer like me (please note - nothing wrong with that at all - in fact, I would even go so far as to consider Playlovers to be a quasi-professional theatre group based on the quality of their shows).

But, I've loved Monty Python for more than 35 years and the temptation is probably just too great to not try out for this.

Runs off to (legally) download soundtrack and lyrics....

Promised the wife I wouldn't do too much theatre in 2010 considering I am to direct two shows... but I'll have to see if I can't talk her into this one...
