Five of Perth’s finest performers are packing up their solo shows and heading half way across the globe to perform at the New York and Toronto Fringe Festivals. In celebration they’re holding a variety fundraiser night: Off Off Broadway on Saturday 27 June at the Hyde Park Hotel with a soiree of fellow Perth talent including the 2009 WAMi Award-winning The Devil Rides Out.
Shane Adamczak’s Awkward, Thomas Papathanassiou’s Looming the Memory, Mark Storen’s A Drunken Cabaret, and Tim Watts’ Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer were all recently accepted into North America’s biggest arts festival, the New York International Fringe Festival this August. The boys stood out from over 1,000 applications, with only 200 selected: 12 international acts and all 4 Australian acts from Perth.
Allan Girod’s darkly comic solo show, The Good Thief by acclaimed Irish playwright and 2006 Tony Award nominee Conor McPherson, has been accepted to be a part of the Toronto Fringe Fesitval in Canada from July 1 to 12. The show made its Australian premiere at The Blue Room Studio in 2008.

Off Off Broadway is a fundraiser to cover the five show’s extensive costs required to travel to New York and Canada for the boys to represent their hometown on the international stage.
