SOME KIND OF BEAUTIFUL
Tuesday 14 to Saturday 25 July 2009 – DownStairs at the Maj
Written by BELINDA DUNBAR
Directed by JAMES BROOKES
Music Director TIM CUNNIFFE
Featuring MAREE COLE, JULIA JENKINS and HELEN SEARLE
World Premiere
Devastated when her older lover Paul passes away suddenly, Kate finds herself confronted by a not so “ex” wife and a teenage daughter who have inherited the home she lives in, leaving her with nowhere to turn.
Some Kind of Beautiful is a deeply moving, dark comedy that explores our notions of how we as individuals can each have a very different idea of what “truth” is – and how friendship and love can sometimes come from the most unusual places if we open our heart enough to let it in.
Some Kind of Beautiful is brought to you by the same creative team that produced previous Brainbox Project smash hits 2007’s BadGirls? and 2008’s Threeway, and is the third cabaret musical in a series of very modern explorations. Some Kind of Beautiful will be a completely West Australian musical with the book written by Belinda Dunbar and all music and lyrics written by Tim Cunniffe and Belinda Dunbar.
Doors and bar open at an hour before the performance so you have time to relax with a drink and light refreshments before, during and after the show.

A fully staged and costumed production tracing the musical and theatrical collaboration between W.S. Gilbert & Arthur Sullivan and Richard D'Oyly Carter
The story is narrated by Richasrd D'oyly Carte and the action alternates between rehearsal and performance mode presenting excerpts from all 13 Savoy operas.
At times sad, but frequently witty, this show could just as easily be titled " G & S - all the best bits"
Written & Directed by Donna and Andrew Foote this show presents all the joy and colour expected of a full Gilbert & Sullivan production
