The Blue Room and The Duck House with The Wet Weather Ensemble present The Bearskinner

Adapted by Ian Sinclair

Kathryn Osborne

They say that when a man gives up hope, the devil walks at his side.
So begins this story.

A soldier marched through a dark wood, and he did not march alone...

This vivid re-imagining of a Brothers Grimm classic uses comedy and live music to tell the haunting tale of a man who has lost everything
to war: his family and friends, his youth, and innocence.

When the devil wraps him in bearskin, fills his pockets with gold and makes a treacherous wager, so begins his seven year journey of dirt
and riches, with a catchy tune, and violent streak, a has-been and a drunken forest along the way.

The is the first collaboration between The Duck House (The Swallow-Tailed Coat, The Oresteia) and The Wet Weather Ensemble (A Reptile Dreamed).

Produced by Kathryn Osbourne
Dramaturgy by Sarah McKellar

Devised and performed by Alissa Claessens, Gita Bezard, Ian Sinclair, St John Cowcher and Fran Middleton
