Alan Bennet

Beverley Jackson-Hooper

An unruly bunch of gifted and charming British teenage boys pursue sex, sport, and a place at one of the two top universities, Oxford and Cambridge.  It is the contrasting styles of their three teachers, together with the pressure put on them all by the headmaster, and the boys reaction to this that forms the basis of the play.

As with much of Bennet's writing, the play skillfully blends comedy and tragedy.

Since it's opening in London in 2004, it has enjoyed wide acclaim and popularity in the UK, on Broadway and internationally.
