The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe

Welcome to the fabulous land of Narnia!

It is wartime England. Four children, brothers and sisters Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are evacuated to the country to stay at the home of kindly Professor Kirk. Whilst playing hide and seek one day, Lucy discovers a wardrobe in a spare room of the house and enters the wintry fantasy world. Her brothers and sisters eventually join her and as they travel through Narnia together, they meet the curious array of mythical creatures who live there.

It is discovered that a curse has been put on the land by the evil White Witch and it has been winter for 100 years. A battle between good and evil ensues, the land is eventually rescued from the White Witch by the mighty Aslan and - from the other side of the wardrobe – two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve.

Based on the enchanting book by CS Lewis and through Hal Leonard Australia, this fantastic new musical adaptation beautifully captures the mood and drama of the novel's mystical setting and affirms the positive values of the ethics and redemption through love. So come along and be enchanted by this magical January holiday production ONLY at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.

These performers will be joined by a huge ensemble of over 40 fabulously talented individuals ranging in ages from 6 - 60+.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to audition for the show. All auditionees gave their absolute best in an attempt to stand out from the HUGE crowd, and as such, each casting choice was made that much more difficult. Each and every member of the cast should be very proud of their achievement. To those who weren't successful this time - please don't be disheartened. Everyone had talent and I could have used all of you, unfortunately there was a limited number of places available in the show. I encourage everyone to keep at it - keep training and keep trying and your time will come.

And so, the fun begins Smiling

Looks like a great cast and undoubtedly you'll have a fine time of it working on this project.
Just wanted to say it was such a nice touch to publicly acclaim the people who WEREN'T cast. Too often we forget that people put aside time they could have spent elsewhere to turn up on a weekend and try their luck in the audition process.
Many of those may not have had a dip at theatre before and if your feedback to them was as encouraging as that displayed in your post, I have no doubt a good number will come back the next time auditions are called for.
Just thought it was a very encouraging post and I commend you for it.
We're often lambasted on this site for being too lovey-dovey and self-congratulatory and to that I say "why not?". This site was established with the intent that theatre in WA be encouraged and it should be full of backslaps and congrats because WE WANT PEOPLE TO BE INVOLVED. The less gentle sides of our nature can probably find another forum for their display.
A refreshing post of positivity so thank you Darren.

Don't normally go to musicals but it's a great story, I'm curious to see how you put it on stage, I'm doubly curious to see Paul Treasure in a Mr Beaver costume, and it could be an excuse to have a dirty weekend in Mandurah.
Have a great rehearsal period all.

Murray,

I think its time that you be out and proud and just admit it... you like musicals! lol

I have noticed a few of your comments on here that have the phrase "I don't normally go to/like musicals but..." and its always in reference to you going to or been to a musical! ha ha ha Classic!

How am I to keep my curmudgeonly rep if you spread such things. I have to admit I am in awe of the talent there is in WA amateur musical theatre and it is a delight to see it in action. If they do dress in costumes in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe it will be amusing to see the other cast avoid the Beaver's tail Eye-wink

Alright, I admit it, I love musicals!!!!! (except The Sound of Music - that's just rubbish isn't it. I mean really)

Speaking from one of those

Speaking from one of those who went to the Sunday auditions and was asked to help backstage. I for one commend the entire production crew (paid and non-paid people alike)EVERYONE did a fantastic job, yes it was a long day, yes it was hot in the theatre with lots of people, yes not everyone is going to get in but the day went as smoothly as it could and I for one am looking forward to helping backstage and making the magical land of NARNIA come to life and will most certainly be back for the next Auditions for the next in-house production whatever it may be..... Tis great to work, perform, play in a theatre and with a theatre group that respects, admires, nurtures and helps local talent to grow and evolve........ OK, time to step off my soap box now and join the massess in looking for that perfect role either on or off stage.
