When a shady Venetian businessman, known for his hatred of the city's Jewish money lenders, is forced to borrow for his young friend's latest venture, an uneasy alliance is formed. What seems to Antonio to be friendly terms from a notoriously hard dealing Shylock, turn instead into a vicious plot on his very life.

William Shakespeare's challenging play, The Merchant of Venice is transported into modern-day Italy in a powerful adaptation that confronts its deeply anti-Semitic themes head on. As Shylock is provoked beyond reason, tensions build and Venice threatens to erupt into a full-scale underworld war, who can say he doesn't deserve his pound of flesh?
