Melville Theatre company presents a season of one-act plays, 2 comedies and a drama.

Two week season: August 7-15th 2009

Sunday August 9 is a 2 pm Matinee.

Ticket prices include home-made soup at interval.

"Queer Street" : Mr Hart & his friend Joe are professional burglers! Edith Hart has just got engaged to a policeman and is understandably nervous about the first meeting between her family and fiance! Avery funny play with an unexpected twist in the tale!

"Effie's Burning":Effie who has lived in mental institutions sine the age of thirteen is admitted to hospital with sever burns. Dr Ruth Kovacs finds Effie's story of injustice and official callousness the key to her own suppressed anger and power.

CAST: Penny Searle, Vidya Rayan

"Caught on the Hop": is a french farce. Returning home unexpectadly early from a rendevous with her lover, Sophie finds her husband absent and immediately supects the worst! What follows is chaos involving the porter, and a glass of brandy!!

Another solid offering from Melville. Started off with the very touching "Effie's burning", great performances from both the actresses, the young doctor's was especially intuitive. Two solid comedies too, with great energy and timing and we ended the night (we went on opening) with a high!
And the soup was quite good too.

New short movement based works from three of Shakespeares' well known plays. Much Ado about Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, and "The Scottish Play".
These innovative young directors have devised short pieces using movement and dance and comedy to provide a great night's entertainment.
A Stirling Players Youth (SPY) project, featuring young people aged from 12-24.
Cost is $5.00 a person. Two nights only!
