Accomplished performers Jay Weston and Katherine Friend will hit the right notes with pianist Tim Cunniffe when Crescendo the Show premiers at Don Russell Performing Arts Centre on Friday 26 March at 8pm.
Crescendo the Show will showcase a diversity of musical styles and songs by three popular Perth-based performers.
Audience favourites The Prayer, All I Ask of You (Phantom of the Opera) and Bring Him Home (Les Misèrables) will be among the many highlights of this intimate concert.
Tenor Jay Weston has a wide vocal repertoire straddling opera, musical theatre, classical music and contemporary music. His biography is peppered with high points including performances in The Mikado (Queensland Opera Company), Lohengrin (Australian Opera Company) and presenting a regular cabaret act on international cruise ships.
Local performer Katherine Freind has a rich musical theatre pedigree. She has regularly performed with Gilbert and Sullivan Society productions along with playing lead roles in The King and I, and the musical Cruisin, which starred former Little River Band front man Glenn Shorrock.
Pianist Tim Cunniffe is in-demand across the Perth music and theatre scene. His talents are broadly spread as a lead accompanist, chamber musician and musical director for theatre productions.
He conducted Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds in the 2008 season of Irene at His Majesty’s Theatre. He has also co-created shows presented Downstairs at The Maj, as well as shows that have travelled to the world’s biggest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe.
