Summer Nights 2011 - Call Out

Summer Nights 2011
We are currently inviting artists to submit proposals for events during our Summer Nights season - four weeks Mon-Fri in February
2011
- in three areas:
Upstairs will
feature Poetry Slam on Wednesdays and Solo Spot on Tuesdays and
Fridays in the larger of our two performance spaces. We are looking for
performance events to take place on Mondays and Thursdays in this space - either
weekly or one-off events. We are also seeking events to fill the smaller
performance space for short runs over the 4 week period.
Downstairs will see the return of our development
program Early Stages in the Kaos Room, providing a space to rehearse and develop
work and present public showings to industry peers.
Upstairs and
Downstairs applications for Summer Nights must include: your contact details;
CV’s or bios of confirmed artists involved; a script for performance OR synopsis
of the performance; and your preferred programming (days/times and which
performance space).
SOLO SPOT 2011
is open to
brave writers/directors/devisers/performers from all levels of experience to
create strange/fun/experimental/musical/dramatic/innovative/edgy original solo
performances. Successful submissions will: not have been publicly performed
before; be 5-15 minutes(max.) duration; be created alone, by pairs or groups of
artists; as long as the piece is performed by only one person; participate in a
group workshop to air and articulate your work two weeks before it hits the
stage.
We offer you: two night's performance during Summer Nights; an
honorarium; the chance to meet other artists and support and evaluate creative
ideas while networking.
Solo Spot applications must include: your
contact details; a one page CV or half page bio for each artist involved; a
script for performance OR a half page description of what the work will be; and
a half page description of your plan for creating the work.

What is Susan's Secret?

Michael Parker & Susan Parker

David Heckingbottom

Cider Mill Inn is an old, rustic country inn owned by an endearing elderly couple, Michael and Susan Edwards. At first they appear to be bordering on senility. We quickly learn however that they are very clever con artists, preying on their unsuspecting guests. Using an elaborate check-in form, guests are, in fact, signing a work contract, requiring them to perform various improvements at the inn. Plumbers, tile layers, carpenters and electricians are recruited to do work they never expected. But what is Susan's secret?
