TWO IN THE HAND - a one act season

"Patriation Road" - a drama written and directed by Lucy Eyre
"Hooker from Hell" - a comedy written and directed by C. Aspden Pomfret

Kalamunda Dramatic Society (KADS) proudly presents their 2010 one act season. Two in the Hand will showcase two unique and locally written one act plays performing at the Town Square Theatre opening August 27.

Both plays have a duration of approximately 40 minutes each with an interval allowing patrons to enjoy a pizza supper whilst the stage is re-set for the next show. The season always proves to be an entertaining and delightfully social season before the plays will enter into the various one act festivals across the state.

The first play of the evening is Patriation Road, written and directed by Lucy Eyre. This drama is based on the lives of a Pickering Brook family who are facing an uncertain future. Since emigrating from Italy in the early 1930s, there has been three generations that have run the family orchard.  This local story is a poignant insight into the lives of a resilient and courageous family.

Next on stage will be the comedy Hooker From Hell written and directed by C. Aspden Pomfret. Dean, an unhappily married man, seeks respite from his personal woes in the arms of a carefully selected member of the oldest profession known to man and meets Liz. It isn’t long before this much trodden path to pleasure becomes increasingly and hilariously difficult to negotiate.

The Two in the Hand one act season contains coarse language and adult themes. Performing four shows only on Friday and Saturday evenings: August 27, 28, September 3 and 4, commencing at 8pm. Tickets are $16 and include a pizza supper and are available from KADS new central bookings outlet at O’Hara’s Pharmacy, 39 Haynes St, Kalamunda, ph: 9293 1412.
