Cat Baxter

MAKING A SONG AND DANCE OF THINGS
A JOURNEY from Broadway to beyond is set to delight audiences at Koorliny Art Centre’s upcoming show, Curtain Call.
Cat Baxter, the director who brought the centre the 2006 variety music show Thank You For The Music, as well as Oliver and Honk, will direct what is tipped to be yet another fun night of song and dance Koorliny Arts Centre.

The “variety show with a difference’’ will include well-known songs from productions including Mary Poppins, Les Miserables, Chicago, Burlesque and Sister Act.
``It takes a look behind the scenes - from rehearsals to production – the pros and the cons,’’ Baxter said.
``It’s the magic before the real magic.’’

She said the show had a tongue-in-cheek approach that highlighted the ``hilarity and the hysterics that go on behind the scenes’’.
``As it is all part of the theatre world, its high time they were privy to it,’’ Baxter said.
Starring a talented group of performers from Rockingham, Kwinana and Mandurah, with Finlay award winning pianist Joshua Haines accompanying most of the acts and choreography by Allen Blachford, Jessica Caley and Rebecca Caley, the show is set to be a rollercoaster of fun.

Soloists will include Casuarina teen Ellen Brookes, Jon Lambert of Bertram, Eloise Kirk and Sky Kettle, along with a big chorus.
Show dates are October 28 and 29, and November 4 and 5 at 8pm, with matinees on October 29 and November 5 at 2pm.
