Joy abounds in Messina, as Don Pedro, the Prince of Arragon celebrates victory over his bastard brother. Amidst the celebrations those around the Prince have a number of tricky situations to navigate. There are two pairs of lovers, Benedick and Beatrice, and Claudio and Hero. Benedick and Beatrice are engaged in a very "merry war"; they both talk a mile a minute and proclaim their scorn for love, marriage, and each other. In contrast, Claudio and Hero are sweet young people who are rendered practically speechless by their love for one another.

Questions abound in this comedic romp: Will the young soldier Claudio marry the Governor’s daughter, Hero? Will Beatrice and Benedick overcome their quick wit and even quicker tongues to realize they are perfect for each other? And what terrible mischief is Don John planning?!
