Nice Productions is proud to present "Reunion" at the Studio Theatre, Gasworks Arts Park as part of the 2012 Melbourne Fringe Festival. Reunion is a dark exploration of the commission housing culture and mental health.
Nice Productions is a theatre group, based in Melbourne, Australia. Our focus is to bring exciting original material to the stage and spice things up on the Melbourne cultural scene. We do not believe in following conventions and do not shy away from controversy, strong themes or offensive language. Nice Productions began its journey by presenting "Life Is Something: A contemporary study of Australian society in the context of modern suburbia" at the Melbourne Fringe 2011. This year, we are continuing our Fringe involvement by producing another original Australian script.
"Reunion" blends naturalist and non-naturalist theatre, as it dives into the underbelly of Melbourne's commission housing culture. "Reunion" is centred around the story of James who returns to his childhood world of gangsters, drugs and violence after the death of his mother. While at first James appears to be "better" than his former neighbours, his dark inner self lets itself be known soon enough.
