About the Following Review - This review created a bit of a storm about the Term "Ham" in reference to a performance and over concerns that certain comments had offended certain people. As for the references to Ham, I would like to say that I consider there to be a big difference between a Ham Actor (poor talent or Over-acting inappropriately) to Ham Acting (Deliberate and appropriate overacting as often seen in Pantomime). None of the actors in this production are Hams yet displayed some wonderful Ham Acting, very appropriate for the style of play it was.

I had just enough time to go over to the Auditorium (the other side of the Puppet Project), where a performance was being held by a Japanese troupe; Chiryu Karakuri Puppetry. There's heaps of images of this show, and the explanation in the review will make them a lot clearer (I hope).

Puppet Sports takes the concept of improv games and applies it to puppetry, with great success. Brought over here by some Canadian puppeteers, this season was its Australian premiere.
Let’s start with the venue. At the Perth Concert Hall, they’ve set up a rather large marquee on the back balcony. With about 100 seats, tonight it was half full; however, the audience was energetic and young. The stage is simple: a rostra, stage left flanked by a keyboard; either side of the stage a set of chairs; stage right, a small desk for the umpire. Onstage, there is a table covered in black cloth at the front, and either side of upstage is a table, which has pilled on it a range of puppets.
