Skinning the Boards!

I couldn't help but notice yesterday rhat the old Revolve at Garrick was still obvious in the stage deck. Which must be a problem, even for the warm props treading the boards!

I would have thought the revolve had been sorted out by now. as it's had the snorkle? I started to wonder why they keep acomodating "IT' as it must be a total pain in the rhe aftend!

I helped out the other day the Garrick ameatre with the set, not that I did much, in fact I felt like a spare part! But I enjoyed It!

No experience necessary but must be willing to start ASAP and have a great team work ethic. As pointed out in another thread, for every problem there is a simple, neat, and wrong soloution.

Very common example:
During sound checks a loud hum or buzzing is heard in the sound system, when checking lights.
Immediate response - stop using those dimmer channels - simple, neat, and wrong soloution.

Breaking stuff

I am directing The Goat, or, Who is Sylvia? by Edward Albee at Melville Theatre next year.

It involves breaking, onstage, a lot of crockery/ornaments.
Safety of the cast and audience needs to be paramount, of course. The cheap and easy option is to buy second hand stuff, and smash away merrily...

If there is a film scene - a briefcase with lots of notes, these notes have to bought from somewhere. No one will use a million dollars in notes.

HELP!

Down at Melville Theatre, we seem to have a ghost in the machine.
The lighting rig is quite simple - A Jands ESP II desk, and two 12 channel Jands GP12c dimmer racks.

The problem is intermittent. When we go to black, and then try to bring lights up, one or the other of the racks doesn't respond. The DMX light on the rack goes out, and the STATUS light flashes (with a 0.1 second period, about).

TV/screen presenting, could someone please offer any advice & guidance

I am not sure if this is the right area to ask.. but I was hoping some one could offer me some advice & guidance.

I am in Melbourne and am wanting to do training in TV/screen presenting. Does anyone know which schools/places offer the best training for TV/screen presenting that agents prefer to go through and will be somewhere that has good contacts?

Hi guys,

just finished writing a play. One that requires actors to play the part of canines...as in walking on all fours, slurping from dog bowls etc etc...In setting / determining the production notes, I'm pondering how best to portray said canines? Minimal? As in, just a touch of makeup to the face, as a mere suggestion, or go the whole hog, or rather, the whole dog? I'm open to the thoughts of our many talented costume designers, and makeup artistes.

Any recomendations for a cctv camera for a stage monitor, that switches to infra red automatically during blackouts to make visual cues easier? What did you pay for the camera ?
