Student Film "Changes" Casting Call

Following interest in the short film "Changes", the director has announced he will be holding public auditions on September 25th and 26th in Melbourne.

FixedPoint Productions is assisting in some aspects of production including casting, and if you wish to apply, please send your CV / headshot to info@fixedpoint.com.au and we will pass your details on to the director.

The Executive Producer, Writer & Director is Philip Mitchell. "Changes" will be a student film organised through Footscray City Films as a final year major project.

Synopsis: The film follows an Australian family's life at different stages, centring on the youngest son John, who struggles with a learning difficulty.
We see how far the family comes only to lose their home in the Black Saturday bushfires. Based on a true story, "Changes" offers a dramatic challenge for any actor.

All roles are voluntary but basic expenses are covered.

Roles available are:

ANNE (the mother) spanning 20 years. The director is seeking an actress to convincingly play this role from 20s through to 40s.

MITCH (the father) spanning 20 years. The director is seeking an actor to convincingly play this role from 20s through to 40s.

DARKO (the speech therapist) age 28 +. Male / female actors welcome to apply.

JOHN (the son) age 17.

JOHN (middle) age 7. Seeking child actors aged between 6 - 12 years.
Please Note! A parent or guardian must apply on your behalf before you can be booked for an audition.

JOHN (young) age 2. Seeking child actors aged between 2 - 5 years.
Please Note! A parent or guardian must apply on your behalf before you can be booked for an audition.

ALEX (the daughter) age 23.
Please Note! Actors must be 18 years and over to apply for this role!

ALEX (middle) at age 8 and 13. Seeking one child actor to convincingly play Alex at both ages.
Please Note! A parent or guardian must apply on your behalf before you can be booked for an audition.

Under no circumstances will FixedPoint assist in audition bookings of actors under the age of 18 without the express consent of a parent or guardian.

Once booked, a parent or guardian must accompany you to the audition.

STIRLING PLAYERS YOUTH – WRITERS PROJECT
For youth aged 12-25 years OR a new adult writer who has not had any of their work presented in public before.
Theme: “Last Resorts”
SPY wishes to announce an exciting opportunity for new and young writers.
If you’re interested in giving play writing a go, or if you have something you have already developed which fits in with the theme “Last Resorts,” we encourage you to submit a script to be produced by SPY!
It can be in any genre and style you wish, and is expected to be 15-20 minutes in length.
The scripts will be assessed and undergo an editing process between the writer and project co-ordinator, with the most compatible scripts being chosen to be performed for a three night season at Stirling Theatre in October.
CONDITIONS:

• Submissions open from 9th April until 30th June, with 2-4 scripts being chosen. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
• The theme of the project is “Last Resorts,” and we’ll be looking for your interpretation of this theme in your script.
• As the goal of this project is to assist young and new writers in building scripts, please be aware that if your script is selected it will be subject to editing and re-working, in consultation with the writer.
• A director chosen by the project co-ordinator will be allocated to produce each selected script, with auditions being held on 25th July. Once the editing process is complete, the director has full discretion regarding the writer’s involvement in the rehearsal process.
• Writers need to be in the age group of 12-25 years OR a new adult writer who has not had any of their work presented in public before.
• Plays may be 20 minutes in length AT MOST.
• The stage will have no flats and will be using the tab curtains for entrances and exits, so keep this in mind when choosing the setting of your play.
• Small cast plays are preferred. (A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 cast members).
• Any genre or style is acceptable.
