Her Infinite Variety

This production only has a short season (finishes Saturday) so it was a 'spur of the moment' decision to leave the comfort of my lounge room and get out to see it at Murdoch U's Nexus Theatre last night.
I'm not sure if the play is 'bardolatory' or 'anti-bardolatory', but either way it is well conceived, designed and very entertaining. I think if anyone should be allowed to deconstruct Shakespeare, then it should only be those who have a deep understanding and appreciation of his work in the first place. I believe Melissa Mae fits those criteria. It reminded me a lot of Tom Stoppard's 'Shakespeare In Love'.
I also note that there are no fewer than three of the performers in this piece currently pursuing PhDs in the performing arts, so it also makes an interesting exercise in picking the differences between the theoretical and the instinctual actors.....
Well done, all Bouquet of flowers

....wish you'd hung around so we could say hello. Appreciate your attendance and the review. Good night tonight - few more bums on seats and one more show to go. It's been real

I went to closing night last night & thoroughly enjoyed myself. Still ponering it all, so will keep this one short & sweet. Congrats to all on a great production - & especially Melissa on the successful completion of her thesis! If only all academics could be as entertaining...
