The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot

Do your self a favor and go along and see this fascinating and thought provoking production. A highly engaging piece with some fantastic performances. Be warned it is pushing the 3 hour mark (didn't feel like that to me though) and I must confess to being a somewhat cynical theatre goer at the best of times!
There are some flat spots (more the fault of the play than the director/performers) but the highlights far out way these.
Well worth making the trip to Freo!
Congratulations Upstart Theatre Company. Here's to a successful season.

Thought provoking. For the first time in a long while I felt challenged as an audience member. This play and the amazing actors who performed so flawlessly propose a number of challenging questions to the audience and we are left to make our own decisions as to what we believe is right or wrong or as according to one of the characters ... “I don’t believe in right or wrong I believe in the truth.” An amazing night at the theatre.

Congratulations to director Patrick Downes; Desiree Crossing, Zalia Joi, Garreth Bradshaw, Braye Dial and the rest of the excellent cast of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot presented by Upstart Theatre Company.

What a play!!! Absurdist, darkly funny, bursting with ideas, pointed, subversive, dense and intricate dialogue, playful... challenging.

Three highlights (amongst many) - a powerhouse penultimate scene between Braye Dial as Judas Iscariot and Simon Thompson as Jesus; Kingsley Judd takes a beautifully written monologue at least 10 minutes long and hits it out of the ballpark; Desiree Crossing's character breaking down as she damns Satan as a liar.

Get along and catch it - highly recommended!
