THIS IS YOUR LIFE (sort of)

THIS IS YOUR LIFE (sort of)’ is a ‘Dogs of Invention’ and ‘Spontaneous Insanity’ production which is showing at 8 pm nightly, in The Blue Room Northbridge until 29th September.

Xavier Michelides, Glenn Hall and James Eaton – all stand-up comedy winners – have grouped to bring us the theatre sports version of the ‘Seven Ages of Man’. There was minor audience participation, nothing embarrassing. Employing life experiences related by the audience, each episode in a man’s life is created on the spot by this talented trio.

For the uninitiated, the nearest kind of show on TV to theatre sports is ‘Thank God you are here!’ On this programme, one cast member is placed into a situation for an arduous 5 minutes having to blend into a prepared script being delivered. However with ‘This is your life’ the whole story line, script, characterisation, costume design, props, effects, lighting (Cameron Mapley) and music is spontaneous. At one stage on the Opening Night, the team were given a North Yorkshire accent to deal with, and without even a blink, they succeeded. The show consisted of two 45-minute mind gruelling acts, but the intuitive feedback between these VERY talented actors in this riotous romp was simply brilliant. They had 100% admiration of the audience as they came up with dazzling storylines. They instantly composed and sang songs, duets, even some opera.

Craig Williams presented a wonderful musical interlude.

What more can one say? This is comedy talent at its very best. Eye wateringly good.
