The Gillian Moore Centre for Performing Arts, completed in 2005 and named in honour of Mrs Gillian Moore, College Principal from 1989 to 2007, is an outstanding centre with world-class professional facilities.

This Centre provides the College with a fabulous auditorium, designed to seat up to 750 people, complete with orchestra pit, fly tower and backstage assembly and preparation space suitable for dramatic productions of all sizes, concerts and musicals, Senior and Junior School productions and the Preparatory School concert are all performed in the centre using the “state of the art” theatrical lighting and sound facilities. Senior students have the opportunity of learning how to use these facilities and undertake technical design, operational and Front of House roles in addition to their studies. Other areas of the College also use the Centre extensively for assemblies, lectures and presentations.

The Rehearsal Room, designed principally for use by large music ensembles, includes features to accommodate dance and drama rehearsals, and is enhanced by the wonderful natural light streaming in through the windows. The smaller studio space is ideally suited to drama teaching and small ensemble rehearsals. In time, it will be fitted as a “black box” studio capable of film and video recording, enabling our students to pursue this area in the Drama and English Curricula. Both rooms share the Recording Studio facilities positioned between them allowing for ease of recording rehearsals as a valuable tool in the learning process.

The innovative stairs in the eastern part of the Foyer provide a flexible area for classes, meetings, group work and casual performances or a pleasant spot to sit. The building also houses an acoustically modified teaching studio ideal for percussion.
